31 October - The Strange
Earlier this Summer Scott Toured Croatia with local band The Strange (who are The Bambi Molesters and Chris Eckman of The Walkabouts) to promote their album "Nights of Forgotten Films". An album for which Scott was invited to the sessions but couldn't make it due to his work with R.E.M. But on their new single "Comin' Undone" which will come out very soon, Scott can be heard on the live bonus tracks playing keyboards, the single will also contain the Phil Brown's remix of Long Shadows

You can listen to two tracks of this album here (including the single), and if you like them get the album in your record shop or contact Dalibor on The Bambi Molesters forum (or see the info on our forum here) to get the album (15€ including postage to Europe) or the single.

It has some info of what Guitars/Amps/Pedals Scott uses during the tour.

You can find it at the rehearsal hall link in the R.E.M. blog. (Requires Flash)

05 October - The Minus 5 suprise set in Minneapolis
Minneapolis St Paul Star Tribune | by Chris Riemenschneider

A night off from the Vote for Change tour Monday resulted in a little all-star action on stage at the 400 Bar in Minneapolis, where Bright Eyes performed and members of R.E.M. mingled with local musicians.

R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck joined Kraig Johnson & the Program in a version of Johnson's "Freight Train." R.E.M. touring sideman Scott McCaughey also got on stage with the likes of Jessy Greene, who played violin on McCaughey's recent Minus 5 album. Rumors of Bruce Springsteen's arrival kept circulating, but only members of the Boss's road crew came into the bar.

R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe stood in a cordoned-off corner of the bar to watch the entire set by Bright Eyes, a k a Omaha songwriter Conor Oberst, the opening act of Tuesday night's political fundraiser at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center. Bill Sullivan, the 400 Bar's co-manager, is Bright Eyes' tour manager and a friend of R.E.M.'s members from when he worked with the Replacements.

Minus 5 setlist is:

Dear My Inspiration
Courage Is The Smallest Bird
The Town That Lost Its Groove Supply
I Don't Want to Fuck Off Anymore
I'm Not Bitter
Days of Wine & Booze
Lies of the Living Dead
The Night Chicago Died
Find A Finger
Don't Be Denied (Neil Young)

23 September - Hotel Senator media player
YepRoc records released a new media player with a new song (Hotel Senator) from the album Minus 5, At The Organ. You can listen to the song here

The band that perpetually creates anachronistic music in a far, distant future returns to the present to revisit a past collaboration. Evil mastermind Scott McCaughey and his sonic frontiersmen are joined by the uber-handsome members of Wilco as they create 7 tracks previously unreleased on compact disc and a video for “The Town That Lost Its Groove Supply.” The venerable CNN calls him “the unstoppable man of music.” Not to outdone -- Scott calls himself one of “three of the greatest songwriters of our time.”

19 September - Pre-order 'At The Organ'

You can now pre-order your ‘At The Organ’ EP over at YepRoc. If you order before the street date of November 2 you get the CD and a t-shirt special offer! The CD is released in a 4 panel digi-pack and will contain 7 new tracks and a video for ‘The Town That Lost It’s Groove Supply’. Scott is again backed by the boys of Wilco for this release, with extra help from Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Ken Stringfellow (the Posies), Rebecca Gates (Spinanes) and Jessy Green.

Meanwhile Scott McCaughey is on tour with R.E.M., right now they are in Europe doing some small promo gigs, after that they will join the vote for change tour at the beginning of October. Check REMhq for further details and tour dates.
