When God Made Time

When God made time, he made plenty of it
He left it lying around
A little more in the country, then in the town
And there it was, stuck between every stone or fifty feet below the clouds
In the porch light, by the pile of bones, at the shadows edge
In the holes of a teeth above the rafters of our homes
Sitting in a chair with our beliefs
To hold so much time, He made the oceans deep and wide
And He made the mountains high
And He gave us the means to survive, by letting us die
And when we're dead, my my how the time went by
