Credits PISTOLSMITHING. "I beseech ye in the bowels of Christ, think that ye may be mistaken." In this spirit was this very record produced by Scott McCaughey and Kurt Bloch. "Several lambs were verily injured." Most compositions were recorded at Studio Litho, Seattle, by Kurt, with the unflappable assistance of Floyd Rietsma. "The dawn comes and no one receives it in his mouth, for there no morn or hope is possible." Chapters 5 and 10 were committed at SOMA, Chicago, with Mike Jorgensen as Colonel Knob. "Their destiny to march in rows, muskets shouldered, a bible skewered on each bayonet." Eric Lovre captured 11 and 13 in a living room in Turner, Oregon. "Falling over barbed wire into a sea of mud, the advance to the grave of Tim Hardin decisively repelled." Additional pontificating and Jesuit-slinging at the Treehouse, the Stringfellow kitchen (Seattle not Paris), Morgan Fisher's Keyboard World (Tokyo), and the Convention Center Econolodge (Portland). "The chief executioner himself, mounted before the camel artillery, wore a crimson veil as if to render himself unrecognizable." All collected ingredients mixed for consumption at Avast Studio, Seattle, by Kurt with Scott. "The trenchant blade, Toledo trusty, for want of fighting was grown rusty, and ate into itself, for lack of somebody to hew and hack." Words and music surrendered by Scott McCaughey, MacNor Music/BMI/administered by Bug Music 2005, but for #3 by McCaughey and Bob Spires, and #6 by McCaughey and John Moremen. "Hell is paved with priests? skulls." The men from Wilco appear courtesy of Nonesuch Records. Peter Buck courtesy of Warner Brothers Records. Kelly Hogan courtesy of Bloodshot. "The stupid believe that to be truthful is easy." Design by Kurt Bloch for Sir William deSks. |
